Yorkshire Dales National Park

A vast expanse of rolling countryside and dramatic limestone valleys, dotted with traditional English villages, wildlife reserves and historic ruins, the Yorkshire Dales National Park encompasses some of England’s most ruggedly beautiful scenery. The 680-square-mile park has been protected since the 1950s and it’s an obvious choice for outdoors enthusiasts, with over 500 miles of hiking and cycling trails, ample opportunities for horse riding and a honeycomb of caves, sink holes and gorges to explore.
Highlights include the Aysgarth Falls, the West Burton Cauldron Falls, Klinsey Crag and Malham Cove, but it’s not just the natural landscapes that draw travelers to the Yorkshire Dales. Visitors can also walk in the footsteps of literary vet and local celebrity James Herriot; visit historic fortresses, like Bolton Castle and Middleham Castle; sample some of England’s most famous cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery; or discover traditional Dales villages like Buckden, Kettlewell and Grassington.
