The tour itself was great! I would have liked another half hour in the ruins and more time in the market though .The tour guide Eddy was wonderful as was the driver Pedro. The small group added to the experience as well. My only complaint was with Viator. When trying to confirm from Playa del Carmen they could not find my booking, then the wrong booking, then the wrong time. It all worked out in the end but make sure you confirm your booking and bring water shoes.
We had a fabulous time with our tour guide Uri and the great drivers from Cancun Adventures. We got water, snacks, and cool towels to stay comfortable during the trip. Tulum was picturesque with iguanas relaxing on the ruins and a beautiful beach you can relax by. The cave was beautiful and Uri was very knowledgable about the animals and geology of the cave. Lunch was served on a quiet beach under a thatched roof. Easily the best tour we took in Cancun!!
This is definitely a great tour. First my husband and I got picked up from our hotel in Playa Del Carmen and picked up a few other travelers from theirs. There was a total of 10 people in our tour group. Our guides Heriberto and Mateo were wonderful and knowledgable. Heriberto broke up the drive to Tulum about an hour with pictures and information about history and wildlife found in the Yucatan Peninsula. Once we got to Tulum he took us around the ruins and shared more history, artifacts, etc. We got about an hour of free time, but keep in mind the walk back to the meeting spot takes 20 minutes at least so free time was a little short. The tour with Heri and the heat made it so you didn't want to much free time. After Tulum we went to a remote area and got blessed by a Shamon and later swam in a pristine underwater cave. I would definitely recommend wearing your bathing suit and bring a towel.
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico. Heriberto made it even more fantastic.
I have taken tours all over Central America and the Caribbean, but this was by far the most memorable and enjoyable experience of them all. We stayed in Cancun so we had about a 2 hour drive to and from Tulum, our driver Edwin picked us up promptly at 6:45am and made us feel safe and comfortable for the long ride. We made a quick stop to pick up the rest of the group in Playa Del Carmen in addition to our incredible your guide, Said, and made our way to the ruins at Tulum. Said was extremely knowledgeable about every inch of the archaeological site and was very well-spoken and a great story teller. I was learning so much about the rich history of the Mayans and the surrounding nature that I almost forgot it was 100 degrees and felt like I was melting. I appreciated that Said was very intuitive and let us decide as a group how long we wanted to venture out on our own before heading to the underground river. There's some great souvenir shopping outside of the archaeological site but beware, as some places are far more pricey than others you can haggle with the vendors outside. Once back in the van, we were greeted by Said and Edwin with snacks and cold water bottles. It look about 30 minutes to get to the caves in the jungle, once you get out of the van, the entrance is only a few steps away. The cave swim was so incredible, I don't think my words can do it justice. Again, every step of the way Said had something new to show us and teach us the significance. The water was very cold although Said prefers we call it fresh and there are times that you need to duck your head to get through the cave. Once we all left the cave, we were treated to a delicious local lunch of ceviche, rice, beans, chips, guacamole, etc. your typical Mexican fare at one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. After lunch we jumped back into the van and arrived at our hotel in Cancun by 4pm. This tour was great for all -- young, old, big, or small. We are already looking into booking our next tour in Mexico to Chichen Itza and to swim with the whale sharks. Do not hesitate to book this tour, it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. Oh and don't forgot to tip your guide and driver, you wouldn't be able to do this with such ease without them! :
Had a great trip to Tulum and the underground swim. Swam in a cenote earlier during the vacation, but the cave swim was much different. Our driver and guide were awesome Pedro and Jacob. Jacob did a great job explaining the history and significance of Tulum, and took us through the cave. They gave us time to wander around Tulum on our own which was a good touch.
Trip to Tulum was great, Jacob explained what the plan was for the day, and refreshments were provided, in addition to a lunch at the beach after the swim. I messed up the booking and Viator changed the tour to the next day with no problem.
We really enjoyed this trip and would highly recommend it.
This tour was absolutely perfect. 5-hour tour from 9 - 3 approximately travel time not included. The Tulum Ruins were amazing and our tour guide was so knowledgeable. Special treats were ready for us in the van after the rather hot but expected temperature of the Tulum tour. We took a much anticipated cool swim in a newly discovered Cenote. Swimming in a Cenote is an absolute must for any traveler to Cancun. We stopped mid-way back to Cancun for a beachside lunch and were able to stay and relax for some time. Every step of the way, we were told what to expect when we arrived. It was a small, intimate group of only 8 so we got to know each other. We were treated so very well throughout the entire day!
Our tour was the best! Everything was exactly on schedule and was thoroughly explained as we went along. Our guide, Charlie, could not have been better. He was informative, attentive and funny. We had 4 in our party and picked up another group of 6, so it was a manageable size. The ruins were interesting and we had ample time to wander on our own. The cave swim was so much fun! One group member had a GoPro which took amazing underwater pictures. And the beach lunch after was a great end of the day. I would highly recommend this tour if you want a variety of things to do but not tie up an entire day. We enjoyed being on a smaller 12 person van rather than a huge tour bus.
Noe our tour guide did an excellent history of Tulum. It was crowded, but he made sure we had some shade and quiet area. The underground river was excellent, cool and exciting. The lunch was superb!! Great location along the beach, easy to do a beach walk after eating. Highly recommend adding to your list of things to do in Cancun even if you have a nice drive to get there.
