This was not as pleasant as I was expected. It was not worthy to book the guide. First, he arrived late at the hotel, 45 minutes after they told us they would pick us up at 8:15. Second, there was no special service or quick access lines to enter the site. We had to go through the same line with hundredths of people like everyone else. Once we got inside, he just showed us the room where hundreths of people were sitting, pointed to empty seats and then left. He was gone shortly after that. Money thrown out and spent for nothing. These services were not worthy. I would have been better off doing it by myself.
The tour was ok. For some odd reason I was thinking the tour guide would take us to special seats or something however this tour was more so hop on the bus while the tour guide talks, then once we get to the vatican grounds he gives us the tickets then shows us where the line was and waits for us until the papal audience is over. There is no skip the line sort of thing here, everyone has to go through secruity airport style which takes a long time since it ges crowded very quickly and it seems not enough security to screen. We were lucky enough to have seen the pope up close. My recommendation is once you're inside the gates stand in the sides of the area where the pope mobile will drive around so you can get an up close look at the pope preferably near a baby that the pope might want to pick up and kiss/bless. The experience to see the pope is once in a life time for sure and a big highlight to my Europe travels, however the tour itself was okay at best considering I hear it was free to get tickets for the papal audience.
I booked this because I wanted my Mom and I to have a smooth day at the Papal Audience even though Papal Audience tickets are free. It is supposed to include a hotel pickup. I called the day before to inquire what time pickup was but the lady I spoke to told me I called too late and hotel pickup was no longer available. I called back because on my brochure it had the name of my hotel and wasn't sure why the hotel pickup was no longer available even though on the voucher online it said our hotel name.... so I thought it was confirmed but it was no use. She told us that we have to be at their office location at a certain time to make it on the bus. This was a hassle because we were staying 5 mins walking distance from St Peters Square/Vatican City and had to take a 30 minute taxi to their office location just to be put on a bus to Vatican City. But, we did it anyway.
We arrived early to the office about 640am. The doors were open, lights were on, people inside, and someone outside. So we thought it was okay to check in to let them know we were here and ask possibly where a place we could eat real quick since we weren't able to eat breakfast in order to make it to their office. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. The receptionist in the middle or whoever checked us in with short dark brown hair was so rude and was almost yelling at me We just opened! You are too early! You're bus not even here yet. and keeps repeating it. She then turns to her coworkers and says something in Italian which is so obvious talking about me and my mother. Worst customer service I have received in my life. I told her sorry we just wanted to check in and get something to eat didn't realize it wasn't okay to check in yet. And then she hands me the ticket and dismisses us.
Would not recommend Green Line Tours based on the customer service I received. Even though we arrived and was able to see the Pople. This whole tour is a bus ride to Vatican City, they lead you to a specific jewelry store where you use the restroom, they take you past security not even a skip the line, the guide hands you a ticket and you are on your own to find your seat where you think you'll see the Pope.
Save your money. Get the free Papal Audience ticket the day before. Arrive at Vatican City 3 hours before start time. Sit near the white fence where the Pope will pass by on his mobile. Boom. You're done and saved money.
