Amazing tour. The guide picked us up to our hotel and gave to us all the information needed

ICH WAR BEGEISTERT. ::

If history and politics interests you and even if not, this tour is must see. It's easy to forget that North and South Korea are still at war until you ride the bus north of Seoul. It's about an hour bus ride, but it goes by quick thanks to the tour guides who fill you in with a brief history. The 3rd Tunnel, Dorasan Station, and Dora Observatory are all cool in their own right, but the highlight is the brief tour of the JSA . Standing on the steps of the Freedom House looking across at Panmunguk is quite the surreal experience. The time in the JSA is of course brief, but how much time do you really need to appreciate history and tension of the area? Lunch at the local restaurant was solid. The bus returns you to Seoul around 5:30 pm leaving you plenty of time for nighttime activities. Great day trip!

Great tour overall in terms of the agenda. Travel time to the DMZ is around an hour from Seoul so pretty quick. Unfortunately, there was smog on the day I visited so the view from the Dora Observatory into North Korea was not good. Panmunjom was impressive but we were only allowed to spend very short time there which is probably due to security regulations of the US and South Korean army. Would be an even more amazing trip if you have great weather without smog/fog.

A must do if you are in Seoul. We spent just over 2 weeks in Korea and this was one of the highlights. Well organised,highly recomended.

Definitely worth it - the JSA Panmunjom section of the tour was the best part. Dora Observatory was quite good, too, with nice panoramic views looking into the DPRK.

3rd infiltration tunnel was interesting, although not for those with mobility or back problems - it's a long ramp down and up, and to get to the tunnel barriers requires a lot of crouching. If you're claustrophobic, best to leave this out.

Only issue we had was getting the full tour group together in the morning - we were told me meet at 7:50am at our hotel lobby, and they picked us up with about 7 other people. Good, let's go! is what we thought....only to make two more stops, and then another stop to get on a larger bus, and then another stop to get even more people. We didn't actually start the trip to the DMZ until around 9:30am.

Interesting tour and glad we did it. Brother had served in the US army there, so we were especially interested in seeing the area. There was quite a bit of waiting around. Discovered that the area is set up for mass tourism,
We did wonder if checking our passports so many times was really necessary.
A few days later, the DMZ was in the news as a North Korean escaped to the South there.

This was an excellent tour. My son and I enjoyed the tour a lot. We a an American Army soldier as our guide once we got to the JSA and he was very informative. We did not see any North Korean guards while we were there. It was a very informative trip.
